The Rotary Club of Wellington annually awards two students at CML Snider elementary school. This year's winners are Callie Nurse and Destiny Ruttan.
Callie Nurse has been a member of 4H for several years, specifically, participating in several livestock clubs.
Raised on a dairy farm, she has a passion for animals and is eager to help wherever she is needed within the Prince Edward County 4H Association. Whether that is mentoring younger members of the Dairy Club, working in the milkshake booth at various events or helping with cleanup after Picton Fair, she does it all with a positive attitude, enthusiasm and smile.
Callie spends the majority of the summer and fall working with her calf and competing at various Dairy Shows in the surrounding area and beyond.
She has recently developed an interest for judging dairy cattle and has competed in 2024 and 2025 at the Inter-County Judging Competition.
Destiny Ruttan has demonstrated a deep commitment to community service through her extensive volunteer work across Prince Edward County. Always eager to step up where support is needed, she regularly dedicates her time to assisting at the Picton Food Bank, greeting community members at the Salvation Army Christmas Kettles, and braving the elements for annual Poppy sales. Outside of these commitments, Destiny is a familiar face at the local Legion, helping with the annual Kids’ Christmas Party and local parades. Her deep civic respect shines through during Remembrance Day ceremonies, where she reliably serves as a Cadet and participates in the wreath-laying ceremony. Destiny’s consistent willingness to give back makes her a truly outstanding example of community mindfulness.
