President's Message

I hope that everyone had a great time and was safe with your travels around the holidays.

Well we have another year behind us, so in with the new. It’s the start of a brand new decade. New as in 2020 and what will it bring us? With team-work, promoting our club, some great ideas and a lot of sweat equity, I am looking for great things to happen this year with our club.

We will look at exploring our relationship with the Cattlemen’s Association again, in bringing another awesome and bigger fund raising event this year. With some good old fashioned hard work and getting the word spread, I am hoping that we can raise well over $40K from this event.  It would help bring us closer to our goal for the hospital build.

In case any of you are interested, there is an opportunity for someone to become District Governor. See the enclosed notation for more info:

District 7070 is looking for Rotarians who are interested in leading our District as Governor in the 2022-2023 Rotary year – July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023.

If you think that this is the position for you, let me know and we will get you pointed in the right direction to get your application going.

Some of our friends of Rotary are away on holidays, off with health or medical issues.  I have spoken to some of them and once they are back from holidays or recuperation, they will be back to help us out at the bottle depot. Until then, we may have to call on our regular members a little more to staff the weekly shifts at the depot.

Last Week: Annual Christmas Dinner December 17, 2019

We held our annual Club Christmas dinner at the Wellington Legion all on December 17, 2019.  Over 50 members and their spouses and partners attended.  A sumptuous turkey dinner with all the typical fixings  was provided by the Legion’s in-house Chef Heather Carroll.

A fun evening was had by all.  It was capped off with our traditional gift exchange whereby every member of the club brought a gift, and each member was allowed to pick a gift from the table or exchange the unopened gift with a previously opened gift of another member.

We didn’t take many pictures of the party but for some reason this doll from the gift exchange was mysteriously left on the counter at the end of the night!

Rotary Song Lyrics:

R-O-T-A-R-Y, that spells Rotary.
R-O-T-A-R-Y, is known on land and sea.
From north to south, and east to west,
They profit most who serve the best,
R-O-T-A-R-Y, that spells Rotary.

Four Way Test
Of the things we think, say, and do:
1.  Is it the TRUTH?
2.  Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3.  Will it build GOODWILL and better
     FRIENDSHIPS?
4.  Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
