President's  Message

Our friends of Rotary are growing and that is having a direct impact on the functions and stress placed on the members of the club for the bottle depot.I would like to put a challenge out to all of our members. Over the next month and through to the end of October, I would ask that each member find a friend, a neighbor or family member to sign up as a Friend of Rotary. If we can each bring get one person to sign up, it would benefit our club greatly.  Who knows, a few of those friends may even want to join the club when they see what a great membership that we have. I have personally reached out to my neighbours in the Wellington on the Lake community, and a number of them have signed up. Lets see who can bring in more F.O.R.

The 24th of October is World Polio Day and a time that we all should be making extra efforts to build the fund. Last year, there was a total of $803.000.00 raised in the District.
Our friend Bill Patchet who passed away earlier this year was a huge supporter and fund raiser.  There is an incentive established, called “ A Mill for Bill”  & in an attempt to honour Bill Patchet, the District has set a goal of 1 Million Dollars to be raised.
Here are a couple of ideas that might help generate the additional funds:
  • Give what you gave last year, then give a little more
  • Give a One Time Donation from the club Foundation
  • Become a major donor
  • Run a major fund raiser, with a portion of the proceeds going to R.I.

Treasurer Trudy Brown provided the financials update for the month of August 2019.

Donations from Stew Jones of $1625 and from Maria Garcesa of $260 from the events of Waterweek have been received and the funds will be targeted towards beach or waterfront related initiatives.  We will need to recognize the contributions formally with Stew and Maria.

Rotary Song Lyrics:

R-O-T-A-R-Y, that spells Rotary.
R-O-T-A-R-Y, is known on land and sea.
From north to south, and east to west,
They profit most who serves the best,
R-O-T-A-R-Y, that spells Rotary.

Four Way Test
Of the things we think, say, and do:
1.  Is it the TRUTH?
2.  Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3.  Will it build GOODWILL and better
     FRIENDSHIPS?
4.  Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
