President's Message
Wow, it was so nice to be back at the Legion for our weekly Breakfast Meeting. I think the ZOOM portion of the meeting will run smoother this week for Mike Harper’s visit, as I am testing a speaker to improve the sound levels for the members at the Legion. For discussion on Tuesday, let’s look at the set-up team bringing in the Tim’s coffee and muffins.
I had a great time and a lot of fun working at the Memorial Garden last week, especially when Colin showed up with Shelley’s cookies. Watching Alastair wield his Kubota around the site has been amazing. Construction is progressing nicely, and based on the planned activities, the Garden will really take shape this week. With the Memorial Garden well on its way to completion, I’ve been given a nudge by one of our members that it’s time to start thinking of our next project. Therefore, I’d like to have a club discussion about it at our Aug 11th meeting; if possible, please send me your thoughts and ideas before that meeting.
Just in case I didn’t have enough physical activity last week, I went over to Gary Parks’ place to help him load up a barn with bales of hay. It’s been a while since I’ve done any farm work, and I’m not sure how much of a help I was to Gary, but it was a reminder for me on hard our farmers work…and it’s each and every day, not just for some hours on a sunny afternoon.
In closing, I’m having some discussions with the presidents of the Brighton and Quinte Sunrise clubs regarding a joint ZOOM session with DG Mark Chipman; more to come on this item.
